The Hinton Bombers have a roster full of young talent. As they gain more experience, the Bombers will develop into a force. With the current core of strong forwards, young defensemen and a quality goaltender, this club has the opportunity to challenge division rivals for a post-season spot. Gavin Mullan is an integral part of the Hinton youth movement that will pay off big dividends in the club’s future. Mullan is not a selfish player, and is more apt to set up a goal than to score one himself. Matt Smith is blossoming with each HBL season under his belt. He has good speed and balance, trailing only Leigh McKort in team defensive scoring. A competent defenseman in his own zone, Leigh handles his defensive responsibilities well. He can make a solid contribution for the team and can handle extra shifts. Put Wiebe out a lot, he’s one of the Bombers’ best. Very agile for his size, Wiebe is strong with both his glove and stick. The Bombers’ leader in scoring with 16 goals and 39 points, he unleashed a fine display of offensive wizardry in 2017. Johnston is a top centerman in all scoring situations. He led the club with 21 power play goals, so make sure he’s out on the ice for the man advantage. William Daponte is a scrappy little player who loves to take the body. A relentless checker, Will hunts the puck all over the ice. Over his career, Will has averaged over 13 goals a season. A punishing body-checker and a consistent scorer, use him to shoot, but don’t overlook his passing ability.
