The Bulldogs are a team known for their physical brand of hockey that will make opponents pay the price. They have the size up front to knock other clubs off the puck. They are generally a young team that will only get better. As it was in the days of the “Bradwell Street Bullies”, the Bill Thompson is once again a tough place to visit. Shawn Peacock fired 41 goals and dished out dozens of bone rattling checks during his rookie season in ’17. He moves quickly so use him to crowd the net, especially on the power play and send him into the corners where he can steal the puck from opponents. Ricky Venance has been a solid two-way defenseman for 9 seasons. He’s racked up over 300 career PIMs including a personal best 62 in ’19. Ricky can hit a rushing forward with a hard, crisp pass. Use him as the cornerstone of the Bulldogs’ defense. Kyle Christensen had a good rookie season on the Bulldogs’ blueline in 2019. He played the man well and knocked more than a few guys off the puck. Jake French is a strong skater who can be double shifted in tight situations. Buttazzoni turned back a lot of rubber in the Bulldogs’ goal during his rookie season in 2019. He was in net for 20 wins and 5 shutouts, and was often the difference in close games. Jeff Scott is also lightning-quick and doesn’t give the other teams’ big guns much to shoot at. Chase Ernst has had four solid HBL seasons, capped by a career high of 37 goals and 49 assists in 2017-8. He’s a consistent, gritty forward who is very strong on his skates. Count on Chase in all situations for great two-way play. Riley Bourbeau is one of the league’s most awesome scorers with 33 points in his last 3 seasons. He can set plays up from anywhere on the ice and can put the puck on net from any spot. Give Riley ice time against the other team’s top line, and make sure that he quarterbacks the power play.
