HBL SIGNING ALERT #3- WINGS ATHLETIC CLUB

The Wings Athletic Club announced today that they have signed 26 year old forward, Jerome Thorne to an entry level contract.

The hulking winger scored 19 goals and added 11 assists in his final season with the Fort St. John Huskies in 2014/15.

Wings assistant GM Ryan Minich has been vocal this past offseason in his search for some team toughness. “Last year we had some guys take liberties on us out there and I think bringing in a guy like Jerome will instantly make our opponents a little more accountable. Hashtag Justice For Jedd”

Aside from putting up 30 points for the Huskies in his final year, Thorne also set the NWJHL record for most penalty minutes in a single season.

Thorne had several questions for his new coach “Do you need a visor for this league?” he said. “Should I wear a suit to the first game?”

Understandably Jerome is excited to get out on the ice. Just as he has been known to shout on the golf course, he let out a loud “Let’s Goooooooo!”

Thorne is expected to make his debut for The Wings Tuesday night as they take on The Nighthawks.

HBL Signing Alert #2- WINGS ATHLETIC CLUB

The Wings Athletic Club would like to announce they have signed veteran forward Rob Olson.

Olson adds more sandpaper to an increasingly gritty Wings lineup.

Wings assistant GM Brad Kopp says he is sick of being crosschecked in the head. “Last season things got out of hand a little bit. Guys were starting to take runs at us once we got up a goal or two. Adding a mountain man like Olson only made sense.”

Olson spent time with the Sherwood Park Crusaders from 1997-2000 amassing an impressive 851 penalty minutes in just 109 games.

That’s 2 big signings this week for The WAC and their management team. We’ll have to wait and see if they have any other deals in the works.

Olson is expected to make his debut Tuesday night as The Wings take on the Nighthawks at 8:45.

HBL Signing Alert- WINGS ATHLETIC CLUB

The Wings Athletic Club announced today that they have signed their first pick in the 2020 HBL Entry Draft, Landon Descheneau.

The 5’11” 120lb defenseman put up 20 goals and added 40 assists in 30 games last year with the Hinton Legion Midget Devils.

Assistant GM Greg Nagam was happy with how the draft lottery played out. “I’ve been playing bingo at the Friendship Center for years and I’ve never been more excited to see a ball pop up. I’m proud of the work our scouts put in and Landon was an easy choice at first overall.”

The 18 year old Descheneau is an injection of youth into an aging Wings roster. Brady Dallaire will surely be elated to relinquish the distinction of youngest player on the team.

Descheneau is expected to make his debut Thursday night as The Wings take on the Bulldogs at 9:15.
